SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENT LIKLY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IN SOUTH & EAST

A significant severe weather event is expected Saturday-Monday in the South & East including places like Topeka KS & Little Rock AR Saturday to Jonesboro AR & Rome GA Sunday night.

The Storm Prediction Center is Norman OK is the place where severe weather outlooks come from daily for the entire country.

Although severe weather will continue over the next 3 days in the Plains and other regions across the country, the SPC in their 4-8 day severe weather outlook has placed much of the southern Plains to the mid Mississippi Valley and the Ozarks to the Tennessee Valley under a risk for what they say, could be a “significant severe weather threat” both Saturday and Sunday in areas further east than where severe weather has been plaguing much of the Plains states for weeks.

Although it’s still to early to pinpoint locations and be more specific on threats they do say all hazards would be possible including tornadoes.

These outlooks this early is your advanced warning that threatening weather maybe on the way soon and you should prepare now for where would you go during a tornado warning, have a meeting place in the event of disaster for your family to regroup if separated, how would you get warnings especially if you are sleeping, have flashlights in case power goes out and make sure your phones are charged closer to event and have a portable charger if available.

Some BBQs unfortunately may be affected. Make sure your monitoring the weather closely this weekend if your in any of these areas and you maybe outside. Don’t just depend on the chance of rain on the basic weather app on your phone.

Download a reliable weather radar such as Radar Omega or Radarscope so you can see what’s coming and of course don’t forget to watch us live!

We will be here all weekend through Monday night covering the latest on this event and more and also stay alert for future updates on how this storm may affect the metro Atlanta area before it’s over Sunday night into early Monday!

Stay safe and stay alert!
